The Parochial Church Council
The Future
At the Hucknall Team PCC AGM this year it was agreed that, as an experiment for one year, the PCC membership would be reduced to nine (one clergy and two laity from each church).
This smaller team would focus on how the future may affect the way our churches work in Hucknall. For example, the Diocese has indicated that the number of stipended clergy will reduce.
Some initial thoughts from that team are shown below. Whilst we are trying to discern God’s plan for Hucknall we do not believe that He will only speak to the PCC. We would be pleased to receive any thoughts that you may have regarding our future and how we, as a church, need to change.
Do you wish to register your thoughts with the PCC? If so then please click here to send an email.
Thank you.

AIM
‘To enable ministry in Hucknall to achieve its potential’
Where do 'we ' as church communities need to be in 5 years time?
What are the changes that will have taken place in Hucknall over the next 5 years?
A Where will we be?
· Hucknall will be further split geographically by bypasses making it harder to meet together
o How do we view this positively and discern God’s plan for us?
· Implications for the shape of ministry with a decrease in stipendiary clergy
o We become “a priesthood of believers”
o Recognising the ministry of each person
o Discipleship
· Lonely people ‑ living in isolated pockets ‑ do we need to be glue to pull the islands together?
o If so, how?
B How do we get there?
· Training and Discipleship are key
o but we need to discern what that training should enable
· What are we being called to do together, and apart as individual churches in their own contexts?
o Where do we need to pool resources or work alone?
o Recognise the unique ministry of each church and support it
o Capitalise on strengths that support HIS directions
· Looking at the future ‑ need to be SMART
o set goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timed
· Need a change of mindset ‑ a culture change
o God may lead us in directions that will make some uncomfortable
· WE ARE A EUCHARISTIC COMMUNITY
o This is perceived as a major strength
· Emerging church possibilities e.g. Secondary Schools
o We are currently quite limited in our outreach to the wider community
C Where are we now?
· What is Jesus doing already outside our church networks in Hucknall?
o This comes after discerning where we need to be as it may or may not be the direction HE wants us to go in future
· Do we people in the pews know what is needed of us
o Once we have a clearer idea of what God wants us to do, we will share it for further prayer and discernment
o What can we be for Jesus?
